The 12 Stages of Healing Book Review
I was recently asked to review “The 12 Stages of Healing” by Donald M. Epstein with Nathaniel Altman. I am overjoyed to share my thoughts and introduce this book to my audience.
The author Dr. Donald M. Epstein is a chiropractor and founder and developer of Somato Respiratory Integration and Network Spinal Analysis. Through Epstein’s work, he discovered twelve basic healing rhythms or stages we naturally progress through to release the restrictions in our bodies, hearts, and minds that create blocks and suffering in our lives. Together with Nathaniel Altman, an author of more than fifteen books on diet, philosophy and holistic health, they present “The 12 Stages of Healing” offering interesting insights into the complex relationship between mind, body and emotions
This book teaches how to use these insights to connect fully to your oneness and the unique gifts you have to offer your family, friends, community and the world. The process broken down into 12 easy to grasp stages, one per chapter. Each chapter discusses and teaches you to practice specific techniques that move you through each roadblock.
This integrative approach combines breath work, touch and movement allowing oneself to fully connect with their bodies. As a Neuropsychologist and a Board Certified Health Psychologist practicing Neurofeedback, this concept is the basis for all I do! I incorporate many of his teachings into my “5 Prong Approach to Healing”. In my practice, I find it crucial to treat all aspects of a patient, including Physical, Psychological, Emotional, Spiritual, and Energy. Healing the fractured sense of self within is paramount to becoming the best and most unified version of you!
