Other Traditional, Complementary, and Alternative Therapies

No two individuals or injuries are the same, so we aim to find what works best for you!

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy utilizes naturally extracted aromatic essences from plants to balance, harmonize and promote the health of body, mind and spirit. This combination of art and science explores the physiological, psychological and spiritual aspects of the person’s response to aromatic extracts, while aiding the individual’s natural healing process. Aromatherapy is both a preventative and active approach to practice during acute and chronic stages of illness. It is natural, non-invasive, and created to affect the person as whole as opposed to just treating the symptom or disease. Through the use of essential oils, aromatherapy assists the body’s natural ability to balance, regulate, heal and maintain itself.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)

Hyperbaric medicine, now called Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy or HBOT, was invented as a means of dealing with decompression sickness. This therapy consists of sitting or lying in an airtight chamber while 100% pure oxygen is administered under increased and meticulously controlled conditions. Breathing pure oxygen in an environment of increased pressure delivers twenty to thirty times that amount to the body’s tissues.

iListen Therapy

iListen is a system used to provide therapeutic music consistent with the principles devised by Dr Alfred Tomatis. This system consists of an iPod Nano, a mini-amplifier and bone-conducting headphones. Music from Advanced Brain is pre-loaded onto the iListen device, e.g., The Listening Program® (Classic and Nature), as well as albums from Sound Health® series. The sound quality is absolutely beautiful due to the utilization of lossless PCM technology, the next step up from MP3 (lossy compression).

Interactive Metronome

This program uses neurosensory and neuromotor exercises to improve the brain’s inherent ability to repair or remodel itself through neuroplasticity. Through a structured, goal-oriented process, the patient is challenged to synchronize a range of hand and foot exercises to a precise, computer-generated reference tone heard through headphones and attempts to match the rhythmic beat with repetitive motor actions. Feedback is measured and a score is provided, helping the patient learn to focus attention for longer periods, increase stamina, filter out distractions, and improve the ability to monitor his or her mental and physical actions.

Irlen Method

This method, founded by Helen Irlen, uses colored lenses to help with Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome- the difficulty with the brain’s ability to process visual information and involved light sensitivity.

Light Therapy

This process, also called phototherapy, uses light waves to activate or inhibit the effectiveness of the mitochondria—the powerhouse within each of our cells. The best source of phototherapy, of course, is the sun, but its harmful side effects from UV rays led to the concept of using light and color to help.

The Tomatis Method®

The Tomatis Method® is a form of auditory listening training used for remediation of a number of issues ranging from ADD/ADHD, autism and dyslexia to sleep problems, fear of public speaking and the elite performance. Auditory training is performed with high quality recordings of classical music & Gregorian chant, filtration equipment and specialized headphones. We achieve our goals by optimizing listening through bone conduction, frequency filtration and left/right sonic gating.
